(UPDATED) For 2023, five Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITFs) of Metrobank ranked number 1 in the Philippines among funds offered by the country’s biggest banks, beating expectations amid disappointing setbacks.
These are the Peso-denominated Metro Money Market Fund, Metro Max-3 Bond Fund, Metro Max-5 Bond Fund, US-Dollar-denominated Metro$ Money Market Fund, and Metro$ Max-5 Bond Fund.
The ranking is based on the information disclosed by major banks in their Key Investor Information Document (KIID) reports, which include fund facts, fees, and investment objective and strategy, among others. The website uitf.com.ph was also consulted. Each fund was compared to similar funds offered by the biggest banks in the country.
Jon Edison Munsayac, head of Metrobank’s UITF Product Management Department, said last year was indeed a challenging year for the markets.
“Despite the uncertainties, our focus on our customers and their needs guided us in our investment decisions and strategy,” said Munsayac.
Elaine Buday-Paiso, head of Metrobank’s UITF fund management team, said the achievement reflects the passion and commitment to customers that the bank instills in its portfolio managers.
“We continue to hone our professional management skills to help deliver the best possible returns for our clients,” said Paiso.
“This year, we intend to do the same and strive to exceed what we have achieved with our funds through prudent investing,” she said.
